The machine uses a precisely controlled oxy-gas flame and rotating fixture to achieve a consistent, airtight weld between the cylinder body and base.
The SM-J76 is used where a flat-bottomed or profiled base must be permanently joined to an open-ended glass tube or cylinder with structural and optical clarity.

The SM-J76 is designed for cylinder-to-base joints — welding a flat or convex glass disc onto the open end of a glass cylinder. It is not suited for tube-to-tube or angle joints, which require different equipment.
Yes — when properly executed, the oxy-gas flame weld produces an airtight, permanent joint with strength comparable to the parent glass. Weld quality depends on matching glass compositions and correct flame settings.
The machine is compatible with both borosilicate and soda-lime glass. When welding, the cylinder body and base must be the same glass type to avoid thermal stress cracking.
