Lathe Type Vertical Blowing Machine

The SM-J21B Lathe Type Vertical Blowing Machine is specially designed for blowing thick-walled or heavy glass products that conventional horizontal blowing machines cannot handle. The machine burns the glass tube to softening point on a horizontal lathe spindle, then the motor rotates 90° to transfer the softened glass directly into a vertical mold for reforming under gravity and air pressure. This vertical forming approach ensures even wall thickness and correct shape for heavy glassware including teapots, coffee pots, and laboratory containers.

Key Features

  • 90° rotation mechanism — transfers glass from horizontal burning position to vertical mold for gravity-assisted forming
  • Designed for thick or heavy glass where horizontal blowing machines produce uneven walls
  • Handles large diameter tubes: Φ60–130mm
  • Compact footprint: 1.1 × 0.7 × 1.4m
  • Compatible with a range of vertical mold shapes for different product profiles

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of vertical blowing over horizontal blowing for thick glass?

When blowing thick or heavy glass horizontally, gravity causes the softened glass to sag unevenly, resulting in inconsistent wall thickness. The SM-J21B’s 90° rotation to a vertical mold lets gravity act evenly around the circumference during forming, producing consistent wall thickness and more accurate final shapes — especially important for large-diameter items like teapot or coffee pot bodies.
